Is Your FR Rainwear Really FR?
Flame resistant clothing requirements have been around for several years. For companies required to have an FR clothing program, they have done a fairly good job of making sure they are protecting their workers with proper FR clothing. However, there is one area of FR clothing programs where a gap exists. This area is the FR rainwear program.

Shell Prelude FLNG
In June 2019 Shell's Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility reached a significant milestone, shipping its first liquefied natural gas cargo to customers in Asia.
Prelude FLNG is the largest floating facility ever built. It will unlock new energy resources offshore and produce approximately 5.3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquids: 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate and 0.4 mtpa of liquefied petrolem gas.
Prelude FLNG is the first deployment of Shell's FLNG technology and operates in the Bowen Basin, approximately 475 kilometres (300 miles) north-north east of Broome, Western Australia. It will remain permanently moored at the location for approximately 20 to 25 years before being docked for inspection and overhaul. The facility will remain onsite during all weather events, having been designed to withstand a category 5 cyclone.
Shell is the operator of Prelude FLNG in joint venture with INPEX (17.5%), KOGAS (10%) and CPC (5%), working with long-term strategic partners Technip and Samsung Heavy Industries (the Technip Samsung Consortium).

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding NFPA 2112 and NFPA 2113
What is NFPA 2112? This standard specifies the minimum performance requirements and test methods for flame resistant fabrics and components and the design and certification requirements for garments for use in areas at risk from flash fires.
What is NFPA 2113? This standard specifies the minimum selection, care and maintenance requirements for flame resistant garments for use in areas at risk from flash fires by industrial personnel that are compliant with NFPA 2112.

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding NFPA 70E Compliance
What is NFPA 70E? This standard specifies the requirements for safe work practices to protect personnel by reducing exposure to major electrical hazards. Originally developed at OSHA's request, NFPA 70E helps corporations and employees avoid workplace injuries and fatalities due to shock, electrocution, arc flash and arc blast and assists in complying with OSHA 1910 Subpart S and OSHA 1926 Subpart K.

Key Thermal Regulations to Consider When Selecting PPE
Fires and electrical hazards are unpredictable and even a split second can make all the difference. Workers must be protected from heat, flame, flash fire and electric arc hazards with materials that are tested over and over and in a variety of conditions and are inherently flame resistant, meaning that their protective properties cannot be washed or worn away.
DuPont™ Corporation; DuPont™ offers an overview of the typical regulation hazard codes and the leading thermal regulations impacting personal protective equipment (PPE).
