NSA CARBON ARMOUR™ FR/AR High Heat Layers

NSA FR/AR High Heat Ripstop Jacket 9.9 CAL PPE CAT 2 | NSA FR/AR High Heat SafeGuard™ Jacket | NSA FR/AR High Heat Coverall 9.0 CAL PPE CAT 2

Since 1935, National Safety Apparel has been a leader in delivering advanced safety solutions for workers in high heat and industrial environments. NSA's extensive range of USA-made PPE includes protective workwear for workers facing extreme heat, arc flash, flash fire, molten metal, cut and abrasion hazards. Whether in foundries, mills or industrial manufacturing, NSA solutions are designed to safeguard workers in the toughest environments.

National Safety Apparel (NSA) provides a comprehensive line-up of high heat flame resistant and arc rated personal protective equipment specifically engineered for extreme thermal industrial hazards. This specialised technology features a distinct division between primary aluminised protection, such as their proprietary CARBON ARMOUR™ line and secondary high heat workwear.

Built to safeguard personnel in foundries, steel mills and heavy manufacturing plants, these garments shield wearers against intense radiant heat, accidental contact heat and devastating molten metal splashes. By utilising innovative, multi-layered material composites, the apparel successfully blocks high-calorie thermal energy transmissions without drastically increasing physical bulk. The range spans complete head-to-toe coverage, incorporating aluminised apparel, robust welding Jackets, FR/AR Workwear and an assortment of high heat gloves lined with aluminised backing and tough leather palms.

Fabric Performance

NSA's Carbon Armour™ 8.6oz/291gsm OPF Blend Ripstop is an advanced, heavy-duty flame resistant and arc rated fabric designed for high-heat industrial tasks. It is engineered primarily for rugged applications such as welding, grinding and metal smelting or as a protective secondary layer under primary aluminised apparel.

The defining characteristic of the fabric is its ripstop weave. This cross-hatch reinforcement pattern prevents punctures and minor snags from tearing open making it the toughest and most tear resistant variant in the NSA Carbon Armour™ line-up.

Key Safety Ratings: Arc flash PPE CAT 2, 9.9 CAL (ATPV), extreme molten metal splash and spark defence, anti-static defence.

Permanent Features: Permanent/inherent protection, high durability, zero melting, lightweight comfort, moisture wicking and quick drying.

Fabric Performance

National Safety Apparel's 9.5oz SafeGuard™ Coating Technology OPF Carbon Blend fabric is a cutting-edge material engineered to provide heavy-duty secondary protection in high heat industrial environments. This specialised fabric merges Oxidised Polyacrylonitrile Fibres (OPF) with high-strength carbon filaments, yielding an inherently flame resistant textile that will not wash or wear over time. By utilising a SafeGuard™ coating, the material forms an exceptionally resilient thermal barrier that maintains its dimensional stability and resists cracking even when exposed to severe thermal shocks.

The fabric focuses heavily on minimising worker fatigue through a lightweight and heavily ergonomic design. The OPF Carbon blend material offers a surprisingly soft and flexible alternative that optimises situational mobility. The fabric integrates functional design like quick-drying technology and high tensile strength to ensure maximum durability on the job. This balance of heavy-duty safety and breathable wearability ensures that mechanics, welders and foundry workers remain well protected without sacrificing daily physical comfort.

  • CHEST: Stand up straight with your arms relaxed at your sides. Have an assistant measure around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms and across your shoulder blades, ensuring the tape is level.
  • WAIST: Measure around your natural waist, where your waist bends side to side. NOTE: This may not be the smallest point.
  • SLEEVE LENGTH: Measure from the centre back of your neck, across your shoulder down to the wrist bone.
  • NOTE: Measurements are body measurements to help determine what size garment should be ordered. For best results, measure over fitted undergarments. If your measurement falls between sizes, it is recommended that the larger size be purchased.
  • Body measurements are in inches. To convert centimetre measurements to inches, divide your centimetre measurements by 2.54 and select the corresponding inch measurements from the chart.
