Sentinel FR™ PetroWear™ Jacket / Trouser

Premium Multi-Hazard Outerwear Protection: Electric Arc, Flash Fire, High Visibility, Waterproof

Sentinel FR™

Sentinel FR™ ArcWear™ comprises an FR Polyurethane moisture/chemical barrier outer shell and a 100% FR cotton knit inner layer. It provides superior safety standards compliance and durability that often exceeds the life-cycle of comparable solutions. Sentinel FR™ provides unparalleled protection against arc flash, flash fire, chemical splash and steam hot liquids.

Sentinel FR™ excels as an FR/AR protective barrier due to its engineered combination of specialised multi-hazard protection, durable materials and enhanced user comfort. It is specifically designed to provide a high-performance, waterproof and flash fire and arc rated barrier for demanding environments such as electric, oil and gas and petrochemical industries.

APPLICATION: Well Servicing, Drilling Rig Operations, SAGD, Heavy Oil, Pipeline Construction and Maintenance, Gas and Oil Extraction, Oil Refining and Processing, Electrical Maintenance

Fabric: 100% FR Cotton Knit

Flame resistant Cotton is a specially treated fabric designed to offer protection in high-risk industrial environments, while maintaining the comfort of natural fibres. It works by forming a protective char barrier that self-extinguishes when the flame source is removed, ensuring it does not continue to burn, melt or drip. When exposed to heat, the flame retardant chemicals catalyse the fabric's dehydration and carbonisation process. This causes the fabric to form a stable, non-flammable char layer instead of burning or melting into a liquid. This char layer acts as a protective, low-permeable barrier that prevents oxygen reaching the fabric and stops heat from reaching the wearer's skin.

Key working principles of FR Cotton:

PRINCIPLEACTIONEFFECT
CharringConverts cotton to carbon barrierInsulates and stops fuel feed
Self-ExtinguishingInterrupts combustion chainFire/flame ceases when ignition source is removed
No-MeltRemains solid under threatPrevents molten debris burns
BreathabilityAllows heat dissipationImproves comfort/worker safety

Moisture Barrier: FR Polyurethane

FR Polyurethane moisture barriers are specialised materials designed to provide a durable, seamless waterproofing layer that simultaneously protects wearers from liquid penetration, moisture-driven degradation and flame and heat hazards. FR Polyurethane is often employed in industrial, construction and high-risk environments where the barrier must not only exclude water, oil or chemicals but also resist ignition, reduce flame spread and self-extinguish if exposed to open flames. FR Polyurethane works by incorporating additives or reactive agents that disrupt the combustion process at various stages, primarily through chemical inhibition and the formation of a protective insulating char layer. When exposed to heat, the material prevents ignition, reduces heat release rates and self-extinguishes.
