Fabric: Nomex® | Kevlar® (Nomex® E89™)
Nomex® E89™ is a blend of Nomex® and Kevlar®. It is a high-performance, non-woven thermal liner material designed for extreme high-risk environments. Nomex® E89™ is used to create lightweight, flexible and breathable moisture barriers and thermal protection layers in professional firefighting garments and arc flash and flame resistant PPE. As a part of a multi-layer system, Nomex® E89™ acts as a thermal barrier trapping air and limiting the transfer of intense heat to the wearer. When exposed to heat, Nomex® fibres carbonise and thicken, forming a protective charred barrier that remains flexible and prevents further heat from penetrating, providing crucial extra seconds of safety. The key working principles of Nomex® and Kevlar® is that they do not melt, drip or sustain combustion in air. Kevlar™ is a high-performance para-aramid fibre known for its exceptional thermal stability, designed to resist extreme heat. It maintains its structural integrity and strength at high temperatures, withstanding heat up to 450°C (842°F) before it begins to decompose.
Moisture Barrier: FR Synthetic Leather PU/PVC
Flame retardant Synthetic Leather, made from Polyurethane (PU) or Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), offers the combined benefits of enhanced safety, durability and cost-effective design flexibility. These materials are engineered to meet strict safety standards while providing a realistic, animal friendly alternative to genuine leather. The material replicates leather's texture through embossing, using flame retardants to self-extinguish within seconds.
