Fabric: ExoGuard
ExoGuard is a high-performance, FR/AR, waterproof and breathable fabric system designed for high-risk, demanding environments where multiple, simultaneous threats can cause severe injuries. It is engineered as a 'premium' multi-hazard solution for long-duration work in foul-weather conditions. ExoGuard's key working principles provide safety through self-extinguishing properties and thermal protection. When exposed to flame or a heat source, the fabric is engineered to cease burning once the ignition source is removed, preventing the flame spreading. Upon contact with heat or flame, ExoGuard forms a protective, carbonaceous char layer that maintains the fabric's integrity, preventing it from breaking open, melting or dripping onto the wearer's skin. The Rampart FR™ zonal, multi-layer system enables fibres such as modacrylics or aramids to be incorporated into the construction so that the flame resistant properties are part of the molecular structure rather than a surface treatment. ExoGuard provides superior thermal insulation and protection from high-energy thermal threats such as arc flash by resisting ignition and limiting heat transmission.
Inner Layer: Polartec® Power Dry®
Polartec® Power Dry® is an all-weather base layer, built to quickly wick moisture away from the skin to outer layers during intense physical activity. A highly breathable and fast-drying fabric, this lightweight bi-component knit material is comfortable next-to-skin, preventing saturation and regulating temperature with efficient moisture management technology. Polartec® Power Dry® is inherently flame resistant, providing arc flash and flash fire resistance that meets NFPA 70E (arc flash) and NFPA 2112 (flash fire) standards.
Moisture Barrier: Composite Breathable Urethane
Composite breathable Urethane moisture barriers are high-performance materials that combine a water resistant, often non-porous (monolithic) polyurethane film supporting fabric layers, designed to stop liquids and water while allowing water vapour to pass through. These systems, frequently used in high-end PPE are known for their combination of durability, flexibility and comfort.
